TCC’s National Field Director, Art Kelly offers a reminder to visit your elected representatives, both local and federal.

A new Rasmussen poll has found that “only 15% of voters have met their own representative in Congress. The national survey found that 81% have not, and 4% are unsure.

It also found that 49% believe it is unlikely their representative in Congress would meet with them to discuss an issue they cared deeply about and would give serious consideration to their views. Just 35% think they would be likely to secure such a meeting.”

The fact is you can meet with your elected representatives to discuss an issue you care deeply about, and they may give serious consideration to your views—it’s easier than you think.

Call or email the offices of your local officials, as well as your state and federal representatives. Your U.S. senator and representative will have a few offices in your region, and when they are home, will meet with constituents as their schedules allow. A group of your fellow citizens may have an even better chance at getting a meeting. Just keep your remarks concise and focused on your issue. Don’t load them up with heavy reading; just leave them a one-pager summarizing your points along with your contact information.

TCC welcomes Jim Pfaff as the President of The Conservative Caucus, working with TCC’s Chairman, Peter J. Thomas. Jim’s political career stretches over three decades, serving as a Chief of Staff in Washington, a communications, grassroots, and political consultant during that time.

Jim served as Chief of Staff for two different Congressmen – Cong. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Cong. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS). He also served as the Chief of Staff for the Colorado House Republican Caucus. Jim also served as Founder and Executive Director of Americans for Prosperity of Colorado, President of the Colorado Family Institute, and as a National Representative for Family Policy Councils at Focus on the Family. Jim is a nationally recognized public policy leader, and a seasoned grassroots and campaign operative having led major congressional, state legislative, and statewide ballot efforts.

Jim laid out his vision for this and coming years. “The Conservative Caucus has a storied history of advancing constitutional liberty. There has never been a time in our history where our constitution has been under siege as it is today. This year we will build the most effective grassroots effort in the nation: state by state. We must communicate on a broader scale in social media, traditional media, and creating our own channels of communication—and we will do just that. We will become the premier voice for constitutional liberty in the nation, and we will build an organization that can deliver on the promise of freedom in our American republic."

Peter Thomas welcomed Jim, saying “his expertise will lead TCC to new levels as we build our grassroots networks, work to elect conservatives, and become a great and unifying force to restore America and our constitutional government.”
